School Processes

School processes define what teachers are doing to help their students learn. It is divided into three parts:
  • What is taught
  • How they teach
  • How are the kids assessed

School processes include:

These processes are all intertwined and have a relationship with one another.

Measuring School Processes
Administrators evaluate the effectiveness of these processes through the collection of data. If the data is positive and theprocess proves to be successful, it is distributed amongst other schools in the district, while unsuccessful processes are eradicated. The most effective method to measure school processes is through examinatio

ns of the student's ability. There are many however, that argue the measurement of school processes through the student's ability is unfair to the school systems with lower socioeconomic students enrolled. These students typically score lower on standardized tests than students from more affluent areas.

The data is taken from these assessments and analyzed. School systems like to use flowchart processes to see what parts of a particular program are effective and what parts need to be redesigned. A flowchart process is useful because it is a visual representation of a process.

The measuring table (below) shows what measurements can be taken with each particular school process. Most processes can be measured through mapping or a flowchart. Once the process has been measured, appropriate actions can be taken in order to improve said process.
